Is Quadrise Canada a public or private company?
Quadrise Canada Corporation is a private company based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

What is your relationship with Quadrise Fuels International (QFI)?
QFI is a public company listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a shareholder of Quadrise Canada Corporation.

How is MSAR different than Orimulsion®?
Orimulsion® was an emulsion fuel made by Bitor™ in Venezuela. It is no longer available. Orimulsion® was made from only one feedstock, Venezuelan bitumen. MSAR can be made from a variety of feedstocks to suit customer needs. Orimulsion® was made only in Venezuela and needed to be shipped to the customer; MSAR can be made on site in small, portable units. Orimulsion® was primarily marketed in North America to fuel power plants; MSAR has a variety of uses. For more information on the uses of MSAR, see the Applications page.

How is MSAR made?
MSAR is an emulsion made from a mixture of heavy liquid hydrocarbon, water and emulsifying chemical. It can be manufactured on a site that produces the heavy hydrocarbon and used as fuel there or transported to a location that needs the fuel. For specifics, please see the What is MSAR? webpage.

How can I use MSAR?
There are many applications for MSAR. It can be used as a fuel to generate heat, steam or electricity, and as a medium to generate CO2 to enhance oil recovery or stimulate the production of natural gas. For more information on the applications of MSAR, see the Applications page.

What does MSAR cost?
The price of MSAR is dependent on the price of the feedstock, so that if the cost of the liquid hydrocarbon is low, the cost of MSAR will be correspondingly low.

What is the Quadrise Canada business model?
Quadrise Canada manufactures MSAR from low cost liquid hydrocarbons to provide fuel for a variety of uses. Quadrise Canada supplies the emulsifier and the portable MMU to manufacture the MSAR on the client site where the hydrocarbon feedstock is found. MSAR can be combined with an environmentally friendly technology called MCST that provides energy and injects the exhaust into oil and gas reservoirs. For more information on the uses of MSAR, see the Applications page.

Where has emulsion fuel been used?
An oil in water emulsion fuel that has been used previously is a product called Orimulsion® to provide fuel for power plants (see How is MSAR different than Orimulsion®?). A commercially available water in oil emulsion is a product called White Diesel which can be burned in diesel engines to reduce many of the emissions that are normally produced when regular diesel is burned.

What is your relationship with Colt Engineering?
Colt Engineering is a subsidiary of Worley Parsons, the publicly listed international engineering company. Colt has been actively involved in the development of emulsion fuels technology and holds certain patents related to both MSAR and MCST technologies.

What is your relationship with Paxton Corporation?
Paxton Corporation is a company that was formed to manufacture high concentration CO2 gas and electrical power using MSAR as the fuel source. The company was founded by the shareholders of Quadrise Canada to take advantage of MSAR and MCST technologies.

What is your relationship with Azko Nobel?
Akzo Nobel nv based in Arnhem, The Netherlands is a large international chemical company with extensive experience in hydrocarbon emulsion technology. Akzo Nobel nv holds patents on the surfactant chemistry involved in the production of MSAR. Quadrise Canada holds an exclusive license from Akzo Nobel nv for the MSAR technology in Canada.

What is Flue Gas Treatment (FGT)?
FGT is a method of removing that removes most of the pollutants from the flue gas before it is expelled into the atmosphere.

What parts of the MSAR technology are proven?
MSAR has been successfully test burned in diesel engines; in the furnaces at the National Research Council’s CANMET facility; several power plant boilers in the UK, Italy and Sweden; in commercial boilers at the Alstom burn facility in Connecticut, USA; in rocket engines designed for power production; and at an in-situ bitumen production project in northern Alberta.

When will I see payback from using MSAR as fuel?
Payback will depend on each client's specific fuel cost, facility size, infrastructure capability, and proximity to low value residues. Please contact Quadrise to discuss your specific application and for assistance in determining what MSAR can do for your particular circumstance.

What are the benefits of MSAR?

MSAR is a convenient fuel that has many applications including the generation of heat, steam, and electricity. It has over 99 percent carbon burnout, is easy to handle, easy to transport, and can be used in environmentally-friendly MCST to produce natural gas and increase the production of bitumen in gas over bitumen formations. MSAR is also convenient because it is produced in portable manufacturing units placed where the feedstock is found.
